I am very experienced with air guns. But the problem is i have never owned a break barrel.
I am looking for a good starter breakbarrel.
please do not recommend crosman made in china plastic ****.
I am looking for something High Quality, thats EXTREMELY easy to break and load, not that expensive.
I want it for target shooting and varmint hunting (pesky squirrels heh).
what is best for under 0?
i am willing to pay up to 0 for something thats amazing. but i prefer to stay with something that will be best for a beginner in this type of air gun system.
I am not a beginner to shooting airguns, i just never owned a break barrel. what do you guys think?
send me links or ideas.
I was hooked on guns from the moment I first shot a pop can with my friend’s gun a few weeks go. Ever since then, I’ve been drooling over guns on the internet and wishing I could shoot some more, and have one of my own. Finally ended up getting my very own 12 gauge Mossberg Maverick today for starters. I annihilated some Gatorade bottles on a gravel road by his land less than half an hour ago and already I’m dying to go out again. When’s the next Shotgunners Anonymous meeting again?
Anyway, enough blabbering, to keep the topic legit I have some questions about ammunition. Unfortunately the shells seem a little on the steep side of pricing (Big shock, huh? I knew this fact but ignored it until now), I picked up a 25 box of game load for today. Are there any cheaper alternatives, if you just want to go out in the field and practice your aim, and not really do any damage? Sorry, I don’t really know a lot.
Also, I’m going to screw around and shoot some geese with my buddies this weekend. What type of ammo should I buy for optimum accuracy? Also, what other types of wildlife are "fair game" for my gun? Just wondering, I’m not interested in much but shooting some birds for now, but will this do for varmint hunting, other game, etc?
Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
Is the high price of Gamo’s Whisper Deluxe necessary for me? I’ll tell you where I’ll be shooting and what I plan to do with my air rifle.
OK, so I live in the city and have neighbor’s on both sides, so noise is a factor in this decision. I have C02 and green-gas-powered air guns and airsoft guns, electric airsoft guns, and a Pneumatic Pump Crosman 764SB (the same gun as the 760 Pumpmaster, but instead it has a black finish and comes with a 4×15 scope) and so far have had no problems with noise so far.
So I will be shooting in the backyard for a LOT of the time but also possibly the woods, and I plan to do varmint hunting as well as perhaps small game hunting and of course, plinking for fun! So I do need some good power and I want a .177 break-barrel though.
So basiaclly all the features of the Gamo Whisper Deluxe fit my needs but so do many other guns but not all of them look as sexy or are as quiet. I’m not really willing to pay more than 0, hopefully less than 300 bucks though.
Can anyone help me make a decision?
I have finally decided on getting a tikka T3, and cant decide which caliber to get. I probably wont be reloading for a while, although I plan to start eventually. This will mostly be used as a range gun, with the likely possibility of varmint hunting. How far will good 223 ammo go and hit a target consistently? How bout a 308, how far can I consistently hit a target with that round?
I definately want a 223 or a 308 the ammo is available everywhere and is inexpensive, meaning I don’t have to pay dollars a box for ammo. I pay that much for 50 rounds.
Im getting a new gun to hunt coyotes with and shoot groundhogs or prairie dogs now and then. I wont be taking super long shots but occasionally i might take a 300 yard shot. I know that the 22-250 rem is an incredible cartridge and i know all about it. But i was also wanted to try the 204. ruger cause i heard such great things about it.
Now if i was going to get the 204. ruger, i want it in a browning a-bolt but browning doesn’t sell 204. rugers. I have seen one in this caliber before, how can i get one like it?
In my last question I asked about the difference between the 3 common .22 bullets.
Me and my boyfriend were talking about a good gun for me to get and he said that a .22 or a .223 would be a good choice. He has a .22 pistol and a .22 lever action and the leaver action can shoot all 3 types of .22 bullets.
I don’t know much about .22 rifles. I’d be getting the gun for varmint control/some hunting (rabbits, squirrels, armadillos, etc..) and just shooting.
I like bolt actions and I like the way a leaver action looks too, but I’ve never shot one… yet.
I have about 5 from graduation money and I don’t need a very expensive gun.. doesn’t really need a scope.. peep sights would be alright with me too. I prefer a wooden stock over synthetic too. Help?
What would be a good gun or some good guns to look into getting?
I am 18, so there’s no need to freak out lol
Also, would a pawn shop be a good place to get one?
This is my dad’s, was my grandpa’s gun (the one that I was talking about in my previous question).
A gun like this would be fine with me.

Its purdy scuffed up, but it’s been around a while.
I have been debating in my head what I want to use this gun for. I asked a previous question about what kind of rifle to get and the responses have led me to these 2 choices. I want to use this rifle for hunting and for long range target shooting (I probably won’t be doing anything competitive) being as how thats the most fun I have shooting. I’m going to scope the rifle as well.
The thing that bugs me is that the .30-06 is supposed to give you a bit more accuracy at longer ranges. But the heavier barrels of the 700 varmint guns are supposed to give you greater accuracy at range with the .308. That being said would one be better than the other or would the different barrel and different caliber even each other out at long ranges?
I know the .308 and .30-06 are both great medium size hunting calibers so that doesn’t really matter.
I live in Northwest Arkansas so I do a lot of hunting in the Ozarks. Lots of woodland areas. Although when I do my target shooting I have some land that I shoot on that is just a flat field which is why I am looking for something that is versatile.

i want to hunt either rabbit or birds (grouse, duck, etc.) and possibly small small varmints.
now ive got a small gun now, a pistol bb gun,
and i was wondering if that would be ok to use, or if it would even work at all. i know it seems like it wouldnt work so good so i was wondering if it will or not. cuz i dont wanna be one a meanie to whatevers hunted that day lol
but also, anyone got any tips for the hunt? season times? whats hunted during which season? and how to clean the game, cuz ive never cleaned my game before, or seen anyone do so. im pretty new to this..
a gun club?! kool i didnt know they had those!
i dont wanna go thru any courses tho cuz id rather be taught by family ..
i just havent asked to go yet, and i wasnt sure on the gun.
i will not wait any longer to learn. just cuz im a teen doesnt mean that im unable to learn. best to learn young anyhow cuz i dont wanna go sport hunting really, i mean like actual kind..
sounds kinda foolish of me, but all i can do is try, and i aint got nothin to lose except a few bucks for a gun..
I have hunted a few times before with friends but I really would like to purchase my own gun now. I am looking for a .177 .20 .22 caliber air gun. I am just looking to take down small game and varmints. I would like to find one for around 150-250 dollars. Please Help!
i am 13 i hunt in middle illinois. it is mixed country with farmland and fields. the coyotes have really taken a toll on the deer. i might eventually hunt fox and other varmints. i plan to use the fur. i want a gun that will take them cleanly at 250 yards with minimal pelt damage. as i said earlier i plan to use a .223. i would really appreciate it if no one calls me cruel.
i am in the market for a varmint gun. i have heard about the .308 reaching accurately out to 400 yards. but for just a strictly varmints? .22/250? .222? .243. i would be shooting coyotes and ground hogs, and maybe a fox or two. what scope should i use? i like Bushnell, but what else? not many shots over 200 yards, but i might have to shoot farther. lots of details would be very good.
I live in Texas. The law here says I can use guns that use centerfire ammunition to hunt wild game. It prohibits rimfire and airguns, except for squirrels and varmint. It does not prohibit semi-automatic rifles anywhere.
If you went hunting, would you use the AK-47?

Please note; while I think this IS one awesome firearm, I do not suggest it for hunting. And as others will tell you machineguns require special tax stamp licensing.
But I think it would be just the thing for law enforcement use and for those darn coyotes killing your calves or chickens. A ranchers best friend! :p
Your opinion of this firearm please.
I agree that; it would be worthless at long range
and that its comparison to a shotgun is ridiculous.
I worked as a ranch hand years ago and had to shoot lots of coyotes. Trying to shoot several before they scattered was difficult even with a semi-auto shotgun. The 180 would have been nice for that at close range. I used the Ruger mini14 for ranch work and now use a 25-06 for varmint hunting.
Yep the 180 would be a fun thing to play with that’s why I put this question up.

A couple of friends from New Jersey are coming up to do some hiking/camping up here in the Hudson Valley area, and I was thinking of doing some small/medium game hunting while out there. I have my license but is there a limit to how many people I can be with who are unlicensed? Can they be armed with something that is not a firearm or bow such as a pellet gun? Can they hunt non protected fur bearing varmint or "open hunting" species such as red squirrels, English sparrows, or wood chucks that are open season all year, night and day? I know for sure I can be with at least one unlicensed "guest" who is not carrying a firearm, I just need a follow through. Thanks!
I got my gun nice and clean for that little varmint !
I am going to purchase a .22-250 for varmint hunting. I know this gun is not supposed to be used on whitetail deer, but given the chance what bullet should a person use? Most of my shooting takes place within 100 yards when I am hunting whitetails. The only reason I am asking this is because whitetail season and coyote season are in effect at the same time.
Thanks for the input.
(it will be an all around varmint hunting/brush gun for deer in North Louisiana swamps)
for Hunting Elk,Deer,Varmints & I’m a supporter of the N.R.A.
My local Scheels has a new DPMS Panther with all the bells and whistles for target shooting, chambered in .243 Win, for 00 (flat top, floated barrel/grip, bipod, etc), and I am considering purchasing this to use for 100y range shooting, varmint hunting, and also deer hunting (in Minnesota, .243 is the minimum deer caliber).
Assuming I can put good optics and trigger on this gun, do you think it would be a reasonable comprimise to allow me to hunt both varmint and deer with the same gun? It makes alot of sense to me, instead of a .223 that i couldn’t use for deer, or a .30-06 or .308 that would be too expensive for much plinking, and innappropriate for varmint hunting.
I see that a person can get the rounds for about $ .75 each from good brands, but you can get Ballistic Silver Tips (with the wicked chrome shells) for about .10 when you’re stalking some trophy bucks. I figure that so long as my optics let me take the shot precisely, shot placement will compensate for caliber.
Im hunting coyotes this year just like last year with my 22-250. Now i love my gun and would never sell it but the other caliber that i like is the 204. ruger and i was wondering if i should get one of those too. Now i know i don’t Absolutely need it but i really like the caliber and i want to get a new gun anyways. I have 2 12gauges, 22LR, 22-250, 270 win, and a 300. wsm. I really want a new gun and i have the money and i was think of the 204. ruger. Does anyone have one?? do you like it??
What is the best or your favorite gun for varmint and small game hunting?
what is the best or your favorite gun for medium sized game?
What is the best or your favorite gun for big game?
Mine would be, 22-250. remington model 700 sps stainless
243. parker and hale or 270. win browning a-bolt
300. wsm browning a-bolt
I enjoy target shooting in my backyard, where i have a safe 100 yards with backstop, in the countryside, and some day i would like to go prairie dog hunting. I already have very nice .17HMR and .223 bolt-actions, and currently have been saving to purchase a nice AR15 for this. The .223 performs ballistically and economically for what i want to do, but I am not very familiar with the AR15 rifles.
What are the accuracy upgrades done to this rifle, available from the makers? What upgrades can be done by the owner without gunsmithing? What is a good length of barrel, for a gun that won’t be carried around in the field out of a case? What are the different receiver styles that i see on the guns? Some are original looking, others streamlined billet. Advantages? What is a very good yet affordable trigger upgrade to get a very clean breaking pull with almost zero travel (like a Tikka T3)?
Can i buy another cheap barrel / top receiver off the net without FFL to swap for plinking?
I’m starting to enjoy hunting and Love guns
THAT you DONT have to download, and you dont need some super fancy media player.
Any kind of hunting, but preferably varmint or pellet gun hunting.
Thanks
